In 2014 Design without Borders collaborated with Eisten Technologies, a producer of weighing scales, to redesign their scale, which is a variation of the standard weighing scale in Uganda. Eisten wanted a new scale design that would decrease production time and cost, reduce breakage and increase transportability and user satisfaction.

The final scale design ended up being stackable for ease of transportation and storage. The scale parts were design to be easy to apply finish to after casting. And difficult to source materials were exchanged for more available ones.

This project was the first project I was a part of in Design without Borders. I was the project leader and was responsible for the design team and process.

Being my first project in Uganda it gave me and the rest of the Design without Borders team valuable insight and understanding of the Ugandan context.
